A note on RL04 Dakota G-ALWC history states:

  • In service with the Royal Air Force from 13.06.1944 to 30.03.1949.
  • Transfered to Air Tech. Limited, Thame Airfield, Oxon and re-registered G-ALWC.
  • In August 1950 it was purchased by the Air Survey Co. Ltd. (later Fairey Surveys Ltd. and now Cylde Surveys Ltd.)
  • Modified for aerial survey work at Manchester by Fairey Aviation Ltd. and flown across the Atlantic to carry out its first survey in British Guiana and the Carribean later in August 1950. Later the aircraft was further modified, again by Fairey Aviation Ltd. for flight trial work and has been used in that role until 30.9.82.
