The DC-3D production was made up with uncompleted C-117 (A & B) airframes and parts (not to be confused with the later C-117D). The C-117 was build under government contracts at the very end and after World War II. The DC-3D incorporated all the military structural developments and systems making for a very robust and versatile aircraft.
